1.9 Turbo D fuel filter housing

Post by Dommo »

Hi all, I understand the 1.9TD fuel filter housing is known to leak air in via the thermostatic fuel heater system. I can't remember the procedure for stopping it leaking, was it to replace the small thermostat system, or just to replace some O-rings? If so, which O-rings do I need?

Thanks! Dom.

Usually the one under the housing is the cause :)

Another pic that I had to hand (no seals shown on this one though)

These are 406 pictures, however it is the same.

Thanks spider. I thought that seal was one of the culprets too. Need to get two on order, one for the Xantia and one for my 306!

Hopefully not too expensive. Cheers.

Weres the difference?? The Diamiters are all the same...still there must be something though.....

I understand later XUD11's had this mod, and its also something I wanted to add to my Series 1 XUD11, 1991 H reg XM, I hate the external type fuel filter system..

I forgot to update this! I also somehow totally forgot that I hadn't changed the fuel filter on the 1.9TD when I serviced and changed all the other filters. So I changed it and it seems sorted now which means I don't need to do the other seal which is always good.. We will be doing this job on the 306 though as that needs it doing. Looks like a messy job..!

It's not bad. Clean the area around it first (the aluminium housing, if you are taking the plastic housing off) , and just put a good rag around it to catch any fuel. Obviously drain the filter first to avoid excess mess.

Wearing gloves is a good idea too, getting the smell off your hands afterwards is annoying.
