Am I right in thinking that this engine is the same one as used in the Citroen Xantia HDi 110.
I ask as Ive got a 406 now and it doesnt seem to have the same pull as my old Xantia. It feels quieter and smoother so it may be just me.

You are correct. Exactly the same engine. Only difference being the 406 having a standard power steering pump and braking setup. The Xantia obviously having a HP pump for the steering, braking and of course the suspension.
It won't have the same pull because the 406 is slightly heavier than a Xantia. How old is it? It may also have a slighty different gearbox although I'm not sure if there is much difference between the two.

Out of the 4 110 2.0HDi C5s, 2 Peugeot 406 2.0HDi 110s and one Xantia HDi 110 that ive driven, i can say that none of them performed the same or sounded exactly the same.
Some performed similar but others were much slower, the Xantia was the slowest one, followed by one of the C5s and then the 406.
They all weigh similar so there shouldnt be too much difference due to that. The 2.0HDi can drop performance, often due to maintenance and electric sensors playing up. I replaced the MAF on the C5 for a genuine new one and it transformed the car.
