citroen c4 2.0 petrol depollution warning

Post by roughnready »

Hello
My wife has a 2007 c4 vtr+ with a 2.0 petrol engine. The depollution warning light has come on, and the car suffers from slight hesitation and rough running but not all the time. Has anyone experienced this problem and could advise me on a possible cure.
Look forward to hearing from you
Cheers

There could be loads of things causing this problem, first step really is to find someone with decent diagnostic software (ideally Lexia) & have the fault codes read & see whats triggering the warning. Without doing this you would basically be stabbing in the dark.
What about basics like the oil level being ok & are the spark plugs overdue for changing ?

There is a dedicated site for C4 owners, could be worth a shufftie on there.

I've read the fault codes and only 1 came up p0170 fuel trim bank 1. The oil levels ok and it was recently serviced.
Anyone got any ideas

Hello, if you have a fuel trim problem this can be caused by intake or exhaust leaks, O2 sensors, MAP sensor or even the EGR valve problems, you can check your inlet manifold and throttle body by spraying some carb cleaner on them with the engine ticking over if the Revs change you have found your leak. The MAP sensor is easy to replace, on the C5 it is on the throttle body. But before you do anything do a ECU reset, just disconnect the battery for 10 minutes or so and then reconnect, hope this is of some help.
P.S it would be no harm to check your Air Filter as Fuel Trim problems are your Air/Fuel mix either to rich or to lean.
