Data on Xantia Electric Door Locks

Some information of the wiring of door locks (with deadlock facility).
The electrical connector has 5 pins. Call the highest pin No.1.
Normal Lock Circuit:
Uses pins 1 and 2. The resistance across pins 1 and 2 should be about 5ohms if the coil is OK.
If OK, applying 12V+ to pin 1 and negative to pin No.2 will unlock. Reversing the polarity locks.
Deadlock Circuit:
The dealock uses pins 1 and 4. The resistance across pins 1 and 4 should be about 8ohms if the coil is OK.
If OK, applying 12V+ to pin 1 and negative to pin No.4 will unlock the deadlock. Reversing the polarity locks the deadlock.
Pins 3 and 5 are use to indicate if the door is fully shut. Contacts are open when shut. Closed if door is open or partially locked.
Replacement locks. Recent locks may need a short interconnecting cable when fitted to older cars. Dealers can obtian these.
Mechanics:
If the deadlock solenoid fails in the lacked mode, opening the door is obviously a PROBLEM. However, on my old lock there in a plastic screw exactly 7cm directly below pin No.5. For a nearside door, 1/8 turn clockwise should release the deadlock. BUT not all locks are the same.
On my Xantia the back seat had to be removed befors all the door trim could be removed to gain access.
