Can you believe it?!!!! C5 door handle snapped off.
Good Sunday morning all (for those in the UK).
I have a 2004, C5 2.0L Auto, that's been pretty faultless (apart from the dreaded anti-pollution popup) during its 6 years lifetime - although now starting to show some notes of annoyance.
Today however, and after a short trip, I went to open the door to get out, when the interior release handle snapped off. I had to wind down the electric windows to get out via the outer door handle!!!!
Flippin' 'eck!!!
The piece in question is a heavy metal alloy that has clearly succumbed to metal fatigue at the lever joint, and just came off in my hand.
Dread to think what Citroen are going to charge me on this.
Hohum, guess I'll know tomorrow, whilst here starteth the process of trying (probably in vain) the tortuous route to online scrappy enquiries
[Edited spelling mistake]

Great, I'll take a look at this for the interim. Absolutely no fatigue from use in the rears since new.coastline taxis wrote:we go through quite afew of them. normally from the scrappy but have bought a few. the back ones will fit the front if you take a bit of the plastic lugs on the bottom
And then replace the missing rear from the scrappy. Cheers ears.

Looks like one from a wreck then.
There are two hidden screws in the speaker recess.
There’s a screw along the rear, hidden under a cover.
The outer cover of the door handle unclips from behind in two places.
You pull the trim outwards from the bottom first, then half-way up the sides.
There are five or six retaining clips that may break, and they’re cheap to replace from Citroen.
The trim hangs from a flexible gutter along the top.
The rear lifts out easily, but the front is hampered by a black plastic window frame cover.
You can pull and twist the cover out of the way, the retainer is the same clip as for the door trim bottom and sides.
The electric window button assembly is best left alone until you can unclip it from the inside.
It’s important not to apply force to the coloured parts of the switch assembly.
The bottom black part has the retaining claws on it, and can easily be seen with a mirror.
The whole trim is one single piece. The door trim seems a bit of a bind to remove

Fantastic Clogzz thanks.Clogzz wrote:Looks like one from a wreck then.
Printed off, laminated and added to my Haynes manual ready for Saturday. Really appreciated. I also need a new No 10 and or 11/12 at some stage i.e. the storage compartment which fell off after just a few years
You don't happen to have these schematics (or know where I can get them) for C15 clutch parts do you?

You’re welcome, but how did you print, laminate and reply in two minutes ?
I get the diagrams from http://service.citroen.com
You can enrol by filling the application to their requirements.
Looked at a C15 clutch, but there are different ones depending on engine and RPO number; there’s even an electric clutch.
Edit: Ouch ! The machine corrected the spelling of Citroen, so the link doesn’t work.
Write citroen with ‘C’ in lowercase and ordinary ‘e’.

The word censor only changes it's appearance, not the actual text so URLs will not be broken.
