Need assistance with Xantia front seat wiring

Post by ukchris287 »

I have purchased some leather mk2 seats to go into my mk1, the back was straight forward and somebody called Jim (can't seem to find him now) on this site told me which wires were live (thicker yellow) and earth (thicker green). I am not going to use the heated seats or airbags so I thought it would be a simple enough affair, but when I connected the live and earth to the seats, did it one at a time out of the vehicle. I can get the seat base to tilt, I can get the back to tilt back and forth but I cannot get the base to slide back and forth, is there another seperate live for that particular motor? I have photo of wiring that I have available to play with, please send email for a copy.

All help appreciated

Photo of wires at my disposal posted further down this topic
There are;
1 thick green
1 thin green
1 thick yellow
1 thin yellow
4 orange
4 orange and yellow striped

Chris, I fitted these to my xantia. great seats.. from what I remember, you have done all the wires you need.. i.e. the main two.. they power all of the seat motors and the lumber airbags..

if the seat is not moving front/aft just check that the runners are not out of line, as mine were and the seat was stuck.. (I loosened the 4 bolts a little and things were ok) eventually i tightened them all up and all ok now..

otherwise there may be a deeper electrcial issue in the seat. Jim will be along soon as will others ;)
John

edit
sorry just re read your post.. you tried both seats out of car and no forward back movement at all? in that case it sounds unusual and we will wait for other's suggestions..

Thank you for that, I guessed it would involve a 3rd party, I'll just email it to anyone that can help, that will be a lot easier.
