I'm sure you do but is it significantly cheaper than PSA's price or just a couple of notes cheaper?

Well the price is roughly around the £25 mark. Depending on how many you wish to buy in one go! This is for the 1 Litre bottle.

Well that's still £125.00 for a tank full a little cheaper than Citroen but not much, now £75.00 would really get my attention :-)

My brother runs a 2.2L C5, and he buys his Eolys fluid from Italy. I think he paid £42 for 3 litres, including delivery, and it is the right stuff, in a PSA carton.

Wonder who is paying more than they should? :shock: And who is charging over the odds? [-X

No it does not include the kit. The kit is a seperate part and the cost for the kits are as follows;

for the 1 litre bottle - £8

for the 5 litre bottle - £10.50

As far as ordering from Italy goes, each to their own, for an extra few quid you can pick one up within a matter of minutes from your local "EURO CAR PARTS" branch.

Is there VAT on top?

Where does he get it from in Italy?

£42 for 3 litres works out at £14 per/ litre, that's quite a bit cheaper than £25 per litre (which would be £75 for 3 litres)..

It is not inconceivable that Italy or some places in Italy subsidise it or indeed some other European countries may subsidise it. I wonder what it costs in Holland which seems to be very dedicated to getting FAPS fitted and appears to offer subsidies to retrofitting.

You have to take into account that it probably doesn't cost £14 a litre to make.
Or if it does, this is subsidised by the higher prices in other countries such as the UK.

And you're probably right - after all you can buy 200grams of cerium oxide for less than 7 quid. But that's the chemical/pharmaceutical industry for you. They have a ten (sometimes 20) years protection on any new product they bring to the market place, so they can charge whatever they think the market will stand.

Remember when Glaxo brought out Zantac. It was a prescription only drug, but if you got it on private prescription you would pay £19.95 for 30 tablets. Now you can buy a box of Tesco's Ranitidine tablets for around £1.25. Same formula - but Glaxo no longer have copyright.

So maybe in ten or so years time we'll see some of the smaller oil companies making their own versions of Eoylis.
