I've just tried to swap my steel sump on my BX 17 TZD Turbo for a Alloy one with the air con compressor lugs on.
It wo'nt fit because it is not deep enough, it fouls the oil pump.
I got the ally sump from a BX 16v S2.
There was a 12mm or so spacer fitted to the bottom of the block, is this spacer part of the 16v spec?
Or is it part of the ally sump spec?
The reason i'm asking is I have sold the engine minus the sump pan and I was going to let them have my steel sump when I swap.
So to sum can I take the spacer off the 16v or not?
Regards

I have a steel sump 16V engine and it runs an alloy spacer identical in thickness to the sump on my 16v alloy sump engine. The only difference between these two was the length of the sump bolts as obviously the alloy sump is about ¼" thicker than the steel one, consequently the bolts were that little bit longer.
