Having read the notes at the bottom of the advert, the offer seems to be:
For a tenner, he'll strip your gearbox (but not remove it from the car - that's extra), tell you if it's faulty then you can either pay serious money to have it rebuilt or buy a replacement - or take it away in bits whether or not it's faulty.
A bargain I for one can easily resist!

It's hardly small print. Yes, he's hoping he'll get the job but you're welcome to take the bits away and rebuild it yourself knowing what needs replacing.
