C5 Climate control

Evening all.

On my way home tonight the C5 decided that the passenger side should kick out hot air (as if the control was on 28) turning the knob made no difference, apart from the fan changing speed. The driver side works fine producing ice cold or very hot air when asked. Any ideas? Various places on the web say something about a gear that needs glueing or replacing. and other places refer to a control box near the drivers footwell. Any tips or advice gratefully received.

This is generally a symptom of the stepper motor operating the flaps for hot/cold air having the gears stripped off them. It is a common problem.
The control unit is unlikely to be at fault for this one.

A bit of a search will throw up relevant threads.

I've had this before - in the middle of a hot summer, and it turned out to be just a computer glitch, which corrected itself (after I'd stripped everything down whilst away on holiday, looking for a mechanical fault!)
If it doesn't put itself right within a couple of days, try a system reset.
It's amazing how efficient these heaters are when you don't want them, isn't it? I had to drive around with bits of card taped over the vents to make it bearable

All fixed now thanks to some araldite

The heater is very warm! but i'm glad its back ice cold air again
