Unless I'm mistaken I would (assume) the engine is highly likely to be almost identical to any other. The engine code will be XUD9.
What parts are you looking to purchase ? , simply as then someone may be able to say these are specific to that (rare?) model.

There are differnt engine codes even with XUD engines....eg the ones that were prone to throwing con rods were all DHY (or was it Z I can't remember.... ). Anyway the engine code should be in the VIN - it's something like the 5th to 7th characters - eg in 2.0 HDi cars its RHY for 90 BHP and RHZ for 110

Oh I know there's different specific codes, although the 'differences' may only be internal (mostly) rather than external parts. Was just thinking it depends on what the OP was actually intending to purchase, so we could help say yes / no etc regarding it being specific.
I think the 'conrod' one was a small batch of the XUDT units, someone fitted NA rods

oh good i'll have a look at the vin, so the 5th to 7th is the engine code? that's only 3 charactors though? or is that just the part that tells me the bhp? that would be very handy to know actually as my sister has a newer 2002 306 non turbo and mine is a 1993 zx and faster!! so it's either mine is a more powerful engine or hers has a problem!!!
is there anywhere that shows which code means which bhp?
i'm only looking for service parts but would like to know the code as it's useful to know!

The late 306 N/A Diesel (from about 99) has a different engine, that will have a DW8 instead of XUD like you have.
The other thing is later XUD's are (usually) less powerful than the early ones due to various restrictions fitted (not just the cat)
But an XUD should leave a DW8 behind in most cases anyway (the DW8 can be tweaked a bit but that's not always a brilliant idea)

A DW8 is also a Reduced cc aswell.... Were XUD is 1905cc, the DW8 is around 1868cc...
As someone has prooved the XUD head is compatible on the DW8 block with a small mod... is was a poster with a Berlingo Van I think...

Yes, someone confusing the issue... Citroen only put the engine codein with the HDi engines...
Your engine is a XUD9, and if the fuel filter house is on the Thermostat which itshould be, it should be the later 75bhp unit..
You should find the engine code on a plate attached to the block, in the viscinerty of the oil filter, prehaps buried behind the oil cooler pipes...

92 BHP ONLY with Turbo and intercooler and manual box in ZX
Intercooler on ZX same as 306 and mounted ON TOP of the engine.. inplace of the plastic air distribution house...
If its just a distribution house then its the 75bhp...
And its defenatly NOT a Turbo D because shes an auto... the auto box will also sap some of the 75bhp, so she will feel like 70bhp...
