A little bit more info might help.
Year, Model, Engine/BHP.

There are quite a few things it may be. One recurring problem is the MAF. You can sometimes effect a reprieve by cleaning it with carburettor cleaner. Be very careful as they are delicate, if you touch the wires it is ruined and they are around £100 to replace - don't even consider the cheap ones off eBay.

I have a similar problem - my turbo won't boost until >3,000 revs is reached and the car is a bit of a slug. I suspect a leaking/split vacuum hose and have just dropped the car off to get it seen to as I'm too idle to poke around with it myself - plus it's raining :(

Loss of power does generally seem to centre around the vacuum hoses and electrovalves that work the turbo, EGR and fuelling.

A blocked particle filter can cause engine restrictions, have discovered this myself with a 2.2 hdi...

We had anti pollution warnings, and a blocked particle filter warning, and the engine would only rev to 3k...

After removing the front section of exhaust to get at the filter the engine now screams to 5k!

So next job is to clean out the filter....

Without knowing which engine it is anybodys guess however the systems you describe are classic for a MAF failure on any modern HDI diesel.

As I always say get it on a Lexia and find out what is really wrong.
