Xantia Locking Key Codes

Post by addo »

Just want to clarify, if my Googling is correct.

Understanding #1: The codes are available through any dealer without delay, as the database is accessed via their internet connection.

Understanding #2: This code is the one you enter when coding in new keys with Lexia.

Am I right?

Yes, as I understand it (we are talking s2 here yes?). You need the VIN
number and hey presto a 4 digit code is spewed out of the CitSystem.
There is a credit card kept in the Service document pouch that has the
code stored on it which CitService read when carrying out work.

Series I Xantia in question, actually. It's got the "chipped" keys but owner has lost plip and just has one plain key left...

That's odd as UK s1 had the 4 digit immobiliser code and that's it - nothing
in the key - you're describing the transponder embedded in the key shank
and aerial pick up that sits on the ignition barrel and sounds like pure s2 to me.

If you mean chipped as in the large black rubber plipper with a mini PCB
and batteries with the flick knife key there's plenty of threads on re 'learning'
different plippers to the car.

The fellow may be in luck, then. He's not local but visiting town for a day or so, and I am possibly the closest "Fauxia" at about 400 miles...

Car does have the keypad, but I thought you still would get a non-recognition of the key because it looks like a chip key with the blade rollpinned to the stock.

Perhaps even this key is not original?

That seems most likely, so take a look at the var and see if has an IR receiver. If so, he needs to get and IR fob or two. No Lexia required.

It (Fauxia) wasn't needed, fortunately - one happy camper, despite his closest locksmith having to hand finish the key!

Examining some '95 era PSA keys here, I do think the one he has is not original. The blade retained with rollpins was what originally made me suspect a chipped key.
