new member and a synergie with a few issues

i've just bought a synergie,while its ok it does have a couple of issues...
the previous owner has bypassed the key pad for reasons unknown and put a different key switch on the dash.i've not looked into it as yet but reading through some of the posts it looks like the pad is a pain anyway but some were saying it controls more than just the ignition,is this so? if its been bypassed just to the pump what wouldnt work,if that doesnt sound daft.

sorry to go on a bit but practically none of the interior lights work(dash coutosy,clock) but the windows do so its really where to start.

would have been easier to just replace the broken key/barrel from what i can see so far(i found these in the boot) its a 96 1.9td by the way.
