It's quite a long job, never done one although I have seen it done
As far as I remember the book time for this is nine (yes) hours.
Not sure if AC will need evac if you have that. Basically dash (probably steering column too) out to do, its not very pleasant. I do not think its that difficult to be honest, its just a really long job.

306 matrix
This is a job and a half!! I`ve done loads and its 8hrs work for an expert pug` tech`!! Remove :- Steering collumn, speedo cluster, centre consul, wiper motor and linkage, dash nuts inside and under the bonnet, heater pipe assembly etc etc +lots of tricks gained from experience, then the whole dash and heater comes off towards the seats, lean over and undo the matrix.(are you still there?)I dont want to put you off but you can end up breaking the heater caseing and other things. Then try lineing up 5 studs and the matrix pipes when refitting the dash to the bulk head!!!.Blank it off and get your wife a big coat for the winter.

I always concluded when this car was built, they started with the matrix and built the rest of the car around it
As above really, its not really really bad but you will curse about it and its a long job.

Not a difficult job, just long and tedious.
Now I'd like to see a proper job done in 9 hours

306 matrix
Why Peugeot did this to 306`s I dont know?205`s and early 405`s easy job.All the rest,as the man said, they start with a heater and build a car round it!
Hee, hee, nice one!
Having suffered from years of practically no heating with my 306, I decided just last week to bite the bullet and remove the heater matrix. The Radiator Flush on its own just didn't cut it...
So yeah, what the hell were the designers thinking of with that set-up. It took me 3 days and much cursing but I managed it, and after several hours blew most of the crap out of it with high-pressure water. Heating now works a treat!
