Right then...
My Xantia Turbo had given up the ghost ( white oil smoke from the exhaust side ).
Assuming I manage to get the thing off, what could I use to plug the exhaust gap from where the turbo was. Presumably it's a small section between the back of the manifold and the middle section from non-turbo's.
My plan is to take the turbo out today and re-hash the inlet side. The exhaust side will be noisy, but driveable until I plug it up.
I think Dave Burns is in the Chesterfield area ? Dave, do you know anyone locally ( I'm in Dronfield ) who repairs turbo's, I'm thinking of Jeremy Fearn in Matlock ?
Mat.

You can't simply take the blower off because it carries the exhaust connection, to do what you want which is use the car without it you will have to replace the exhaust manifold and obtain the non turbo exhaust to connect to it, not a good road to go down if you ask me.
You can't drive it with a gaping hole anywhere in the manifold area either, you wont be able to breath for the fumes and there may be a fire risk, plus you wouldn't get far before plod caught up with you because of the racket.
Have you tried Chesterfield Motor Spares, old pit lane, Danesmoor, Clay Cross 07092 587047
Having yours rebuilt will probably cost more than you would want to pay.
I'd be surprised if he can't get you going with a good used unit, I don't know if Jeremy Fearn repairs turbo's, I doubt it because its a very specialised field.
