Spheres

Unread post by Martin Beevers »

Hi all,
Where is the best place to get new spheres for my 95 Xantia?

I've been told they are hard to get now. Is this true?

The short and simple answers to your questions are:

GSF.

No.

If you look at my Xantia webpage you'll find a PDF document from which you should be able to easily identify the correct spheres for your car, you can then check prices on GSF's website - but when you order, ask GSF for sphere's for your specific model rather than trusting your understanding of my document. That way, any mistake is theirs not yours or mine!

They are, with one exception at £21, all £21.50 +VAT and carriage. Two years ago when they were a little cheaper, a set of six plus 5L of LHM cost under £150 all in - compared with a Citroen list price (IIRC) of over £480.

Spheres are too specialist to manufacture for a back street workshop in China to be knocking out fakes.

GSF have branches around the UK and also sell online. As far as Xantia's are concerned, they may well know more about than parts than your local Citroen dealer who (like mine) only took on a Citroen franchise relatively recently.

Do this (simple) job yourself with the aid of the comprehensive advice available via the forum, or entrust it to an independent garage with specialist knowledge of Citroen hydraulic systems[/url]

I would agree - GSF. If you don't have one locally they will deliver, look up their website.

Hi Martin

I always use GSF for my replacement spheres.

The nearest one to you is on the Industrial Estate off Old Wareham Road, just past the Ryvita factory by Tower Park.
Can only say as i find but the staff all seem to know what they are on about and are very helpful.Never had anything delivered so unsure of cost as i usually make it a round trip with a visit to Trents
