406 air con

Post by john green »

Hi Guys. I am gettin a stale smell from my air con when i turn it on and interestingly also when i turn it off.
Its a 406 coupe, 2 litre. Someone said it may be the filter. Can anyone tell me how to get to it and change it please?

The smell comes from the bacteria in the duct work. To get rid of it, turn on the air-con and turn up the heat to maximum for a while. If the pollen filter hasn't been changed recently, get a new one. On the 406 you'll find it at the rear of the engine bay. Move the windscreenwipers so that they stop on the screen pointing upwards. Unscrew the nut and unclip the n/s plastic intake vent cover at the bottom of the screen. Unclip the vent panel and remove it. Ease the pollen filter from the housing. Clean inside and fit the new filter.
