how to reset service light on dishboard on a 2004 c5 estate

Press the trip meter button and hold it then turn the ignition key to the first position and wait until it displays the distance to count down from.

Tried it on my 2003 C5.
It counted down from 10 to 0, then went to 20,000 km service interval.
Then said engine immobiliser fault.
Tried a second time and let it count down to only 5 … same stunt.
Tried a third time … counting to 0 … still the same.
Cranked the engine, and it took longer to start, but been normal since.
