Well Well Well... suspisious car???

Unread post by citroenxm »

Ive always wondered how compatible are S1 and S2 Shells!!

Well heres the proof! A Series 1 Front end Will fit a S2 car, OR if you like, a S2 Dash will fit an S1 car...

Judging by the plate she SHOULD be a S2 car, as they were here by S reg, but as we know some S1 cars have come through Complete with S1 dash up to V 1999..

Make your own minds up!

Series 1 or Series 2 or Both??

Personally: well, I think its an S2 with a S1 front end!

I suppose it is possible that the front end has been rebuilt with Mk1 bonnet and grill?

I agree with that :D

It certainly is a S2 car, too late to be a S1, has a S2 dash and the rear bumper and lights are S2.

What is interesting is a 2.1TD with the normal S1 antia front (not the Activa style). It looks to have the narrower front wings too, they dont look like 2.1TD (or indeed S2) wings and the wheels appear to stick out at the front - going by the limited pics.

I wouldnt be touching that car though, obviously had a good front end bump at some point.

Has anyone seen the silver S1 Xantia estate which has been converted to a 3.0 V6 with a manual gearbox? It wears a S2 front - for look rather than repairs - and looks rather nice too.

There's a strange dent under the NS head light.

As for damage, I'd be checking the front thoroughly, it could be that they just had a dented wing and were able to get hold of a S1 front end dirt cheap (that happened to me with Cassy when someone hit her wing and left no info. £40 got me bumper, grill, wings and bonnet)

Isn't that 'damage' on the front bumper from a Taxicab licence card?

Anyhow, It's not the first s2 with a s1 front end - did you see this:

The silver 2.1 ebay car probably had an "off" in the small hours and to
keep the revenue coming in a replacement front end was improvised?

Just a spraycan job apparently ....
I SWEAR .......... it was a few Large cans of Spray paint & a couple of hours parked as you see it in that pic !!! ( in fact if you look close you can see a bit of "Overspray" on the front offside tyre)

The WHOLE thing (From Pic 1 to Pic 2) cost no more than 20 quid !!!! I'll never win the Sprayer of the year Competition but it looks a hell of alot better than it did

As I said in my original thread the car cost me niy on £150 I never intended to keep it, just run it til the MOT ran out & then send her to the great Citroen yard in the sky ....Out of idel interest more than anything I just threw her in for her ticket .... & she FLEW THRU!!! ... so I thought what the hell I'll chuck 20 quids worth of paint on her & I ended up with what you see in that pic .................Taint Pretty, Taint particulaly good but its a "Set of Wheels" to trundle round the Fylde Coast in that stands me at Virtually NOWT!!!

Seasider - how are you getting on with the Xantia now you've had a chance to
get to know it more? What does the ride height do then if it's still misbehaving
- I'm sure the guys here will help pick the fault apart and advise a course of
action for a better result!

Andrew

Andrew, I cannot fault it mate, the Sus is working fine ATM Just done a quick "Short" service on it (Oil, Fuel Filter, Rad Flush, copious amounts of Grease on various bits & bobs ect) I even got the Hoover out t'other day & gave it a quick Vac out !!!!.

I go to it, it starts first time, (Very rarely have to wait for the Glow Plug light to go out) & it runs very smoothly...... I took it for a "Blast" up the M55 on Sunday Hardly any smoke even when "Booting" it .....

All in all Andrew, it stands me at.......

Car ............£170 (I'll forget the fuel that was in it)

MOT............£40

Paint...........£25

Service Parts.... £60 (Oil,Fuel Air Filer, Oil, Lubricants)

Sus Repair... £0.00 ( Gary just reconnected the bit that had come "Adrift")

GRAND TOTAL ...........£295 !!!!!!!!

So, Bearing in mind the "Other" poster who had to spend out £6 or £700 quid to get his thru its MOT

YOU WON'T GET ANY COMPLAINTS OUTTA ME, NO SIR!!!!!!!!! ...........NOT ONE!!!!!!

As a "Side" issue I've spent the last 2 weeks at the MOT station nearly EVER DAY .......

21st July......The Xantia............................Result........PASS

23rd July ........ Daughter-in-laws Picasso ...Result .......PASS

26th July .........Sons BMW M5....................Result........PASS

2nd August......MY Saab 9-3 Turbo.............Result........PASS

3rd August......Sons Kawasaki 750.............Result........PASS

4th August......MY Landrover Disco (TOY!!)..Result......TBA ??? (I'll let you know after 3PM today)

Amasing, what a result from just a spray can.

Thats certainly a cheap Xantia, you cant complain with that. No doubt a spray job in a bodyshop would be easily twice the price of the car.
