bx sinking

Post by boxermeg »

My trusty Bx has developed a sinking feeling. She rises to the correct height on start up then after 10 mins of driving the rear end sinks. Selecting the intermediate height returns her to the normal ride height but when normal is reselected she sinks again after another 5 to 10 mins. Fluid levels are correct and spheres are ok. Is my rear height sensor knackered, there is no effect on the front.

It sounds like a problem with the Rear Height Corrector. Check the plastic linkages to the anti roll bar first - if they're loose that could cause the problem you describe. If they seem ok, the HC unit itself is likely to be worn.

BB -
The linkage to both front & rear HC's on a BX is good old rusting steel - on your Xantia rear HC it's plastic links.
The most common problem causing boxermeg's symptom on his BX - is simply rusty linkages - seizing up in wrong positions.
