C5 Clutch - Vibration through pedal

Post by timborob »

Hi All,

I was wondering how many other C5 owners have quite high frequency vibration through their clutch pedal?
(as I have)

The vibration does get less when the cars warmed up,
Could this be a sign the Dual Mass Flywheel is worn or something else?

The Clutch pedal/biting point is also quite high on my car but have read
its Hydraulic which adjust itself.

I haven't notice this vibration probem with any other manual I have driven before.

Any help/advice appreciated.

Can't say I have ever been aware of that, before or after the DMF was replaced.

How do you mean vibration? When changing gear?

Ive not had any vibrating clutches on our C5s, we have had 4, and ive driven a few others with no clutch vibrations.

It could well be that the DMF is on its way out, being the worst thing.

Has your car got any history of a clutch change? Around 100K seems a average figure for clutch replacement.

It could well be good for many more years/miles yet, depends how bad it is.

Hi again Citroenmad

The vibration is on the pedal only and when you touch it lightly /cover it.

Gearchange is normal and haven't missed any gears at all yet
and have not had any clutch slippage when accelarating briskly on motorways in 4th or 5th gear.

As I said it does improve when the engine warms up but is still there all the time.

I will ask for an opinion from a clutch shop to see if they can shed any light on it in the near future unless i get a hint of what it is on here.

Tim

I've had a search online for Symptoms and it could be a worn Flywheel or
a number of other causes which mainly relate to wear + tear.

Oh well looks like i will get it checked out in time
but certainly not urgent at present
:)
