Synergie electronic type speedo

Unread post by khand »

Has anyone had occasion to try to repair one of these?
Mine took to only going up, I'm fairly sure a Synergie TD can't make over 130 mph down a country lane!
After a couple of restarts, it flew down to about zero and stayed there, apart from a very occasional slight kick.
Its no great drama at the moment, with the aid of a GPS I have 'calibrated' the tacho.
Are these a swine? Is the odometer part of the speedo needle / display assy, if I tried another out of something else would it read the miles and remember? Are there links on the speedo or main board to calibrate impulses per (mile, k, furlong ?)Does the display assembly complete talk to the ECU?
So many questions, such great potential to kill the whole dash completely.
The new price from a stealer would pay for at least 1 1/2 flea bay specials complete!
I believe these speedo (pointer mechs only) are fitted to a number of Cits' / Pugs'.

Regards

The most common failure mode appears to be cabbaged stepper motors or the gears for them breaking.
I haven't actually done it but there are a lot of posts from those who have - source another stepper motor from a scrapyard and they are a straight swap - or you can use the one in the tacho if you want one straight away.
Pugs and other Citroens of the same vintage are (reportedly) all the same.
