xantia tailgate electrics

Is there a mercury switch in the tailgate as mines taken to only working the lights on the tailgate when its half open (num plate lights,reversing lights,stoplight,)

,the wiper motor still works

I believe its a rolling ball switch, which gets rusty and stops the ball moving.
Can be replaced with a tilt swith from maplins.
Can't remember how to get to the old swith, but its been posted about before.

Thanks for that any idea what heading it may have been under,when i searched "rolling ball switch" nothing came up.

You will probably find you have a break in the wires going from the body to the tailgate, if you are loosing several lights its probably an earth.

thanks Peter no broken wires fortunately but a bad connection somewhere,not sure which one but pulled them all apart and back together and all my lights are back on

.I will get in there with some electric spray when I get some and check them all out.
