Or maybe it's just my mood that dark and deep

Would this do being keenly priced:

http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/produ ... ch-kit-12v

not sure whether 125lbf ft (170Nm) is high enough compared to alternate
pukka garage air wrenches which are 230+lbf ft mind. I know it's all ££'s but there is this:

http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/produ ... act-wrench

what's your expected hire rate for on of these anyhow?

This

was what I had in mind, but that second item you posted up might be just the job. Hire rate seems to be around the £25/day mark so the Clarke item might well be worth investing in.

Snap-On launched a new range the other year, it means that many of the superseded ones are on the market. You might think electric is weak as, but they've got serious grunt.

You may need an agent to forward one if you buy in the US - so many Fleabayers there won't post overseas! :x

What foot/lb torque do you need to get upto?
As if you have something like a dewalt/makita etc cordless drill? they do body only impact drivers some upto 1" drive then use your batteries with it.
Ive the makita 18v which is 6.35mm hex and with my trend snappy kit which gives me socket drives in 1/4 3/8 1/2.plus nut drivers and that has some grunt 8" coach bolts go in like tiddly screws!
But they also do a proper 1/2" drive impact gun.

But theres plenty out there now
Clarkes is machine mart he owns it their own brand stuff is 90% chinese made?

I have a Bosch 18v drill but haven't found a suitable body for the batts and they are more expensive also.

As to torque, according to the book I'll need up to 236 lb/ft.

Hi Stempy, is this to get the nuts off the driveshafts or to get the bottom ball joints out of the hub assembly? :wave2:

If you are going to use an air impact driver, you will need a fair bit of wind as the half or three quarter inch units do need a far bit of oomph! Do not use 'lectric except for lowly interior screws, etc.

PM me if you get stuck but I am not about until 2nd week of August, due to family holidays. :yeah: :yeah:

Either or both. Are you saying the electric ones wont do the job? If so I think I'll just give up and change everything bar the lower ball joints, as all the play in the steering/suspension was down to the track rod ends and lower arms. I was just going to do everything while it was apart. I think the ball joints will be fine for the MOT at least.

The dearest new 'leccy Snap-On unit claims a breaking torque of 620 foot-pounds, and standing torque of 400 foot-pounds. USD$550-odd, though. :(

Hi Stempy, I have no knowledge of 'lectric impact wrenches as I woz brung up in the Luddite tradition of motor engineering, where everything was wind powered! :P :P

If I were stripping down the front suspension, I would change the lwr b/js but that is just me being fussy. :disturbed:

Leccy ones work excatly the same as air either is just a medium to make impact part work.
You'll find alot of the places that used windy guns are going over to leccy as don't have the problem with H&S/compressers

I'l have a look to see what tool place i use has for bosch power?
