Intercooler Cleaning

Post by Guru Meditation »

I noticed my intercooler fins are mostly clogged. How best to clean it inside and out? Obviously outside can be blown through or hosed but how best to tackle inside?

I think the recommended method is to wash it out with petrol. Obviously it should be dry before refitting and I think caution should be excercised with compressed air and if its used to blow it out there might be a build up of static which could cause an explosion / fire - not a pleasant prospect if like me you would probably have petrol up your arms to your elbows.

Use neat Jizer for the inside, let it soak for 20mins then swish it about for a while, afterward blast loads of water through it with the hose pipe, much safer than petrol.
