C8 2.2 Hdi engine faults

Chaps,

Extract from advert for a repo'd C8 circa 2003 that I spotted for sale. Any suggestions as to what may be the cause of starting/running issues and approx cost of FAP refill?

Mechanical issues: Car starts on the jump leads. However on removing the jump leads engine instantly cuts out. Battery light stays on. Could be battery probs or alternator? Engine light and service lights are both on. There are warnings that come on the computer screen: 'coolant level too low' and 'FAP additive level low'

I'd say both battery and alternator as it should still be getting enough power off the alternator to run itself. That alone could be the cause of the warnings.

Thanks Mike. Should also have said that the car has been standing for last 11 months if that has any bearing on the matter.

Stick a good battery in an try again. Could probably do with an oil and filter change though!
