Picasso 1.6 8v Starter motor

Hi all

Can anyone tell me, I know were the starter is on the 8v 1600 Petrol Picasso, it needs changing, is it a Sod to do? Do I need to remove the drive shaft to get any better access??

i dont know Paul, but let me know once you do, as i suspect i might need to replace the one on this 100 quid Pisscasoooo, by the time i finnish moveing it about my yard on the startter, that is if it is the same as the 1.8 16V,

Paul,

Is this the petrol unit? I'll have a look in the BOL later and see what it says if so. Presume it's round the back somewhere as you are talking about taking the DS out.

Edit...D'uh you wrote 1600 PETROL. I'll get my coat :lol: I thought they were all 16V, but maybe not.

D'uh again.... original ones were 8V - I think maybe the later ones are 16V....

Anyway - BOL does not mention anything specific about 1.6 starter removal - whereas for the 1.8 it suggests that you need to drain the cooling system and remove the hoses from the stat housing then slide the starter out under the end of the inlet manifold.

The 1.6 8v petrol is a really easy one, its on the back of the engine but no need to remove the driveshaft or drain coolant. It can even be changed from under the bonnet but a lot easier & less fiddly to get it from underneath aswell.
