'99 S2 Xantia - Should I have a NSR wheelarch liner?!!

Post by HDI Dave »

Hi all,
Like title,'99 S2 Xantia - Should I have a NSR wheelarch liner?

This is really doing my head in now

I'll post pics from previous posts later.
Long story short,I've had nowt but trouble from my nearside rear, passenger side, (UK), quarter panel..rotted through quite bad. Bodged it last summer,(summer?pah, usual 4 days  ),sprayed rust cure on it,both sides,hammerite,undercoat/wax,chucked everything at it but the kitchen sink...and it's rotting again

There appears to be no big wheelarch (plastic) liner,as in most cars, just the crappy small one,8" squarish.

So the rain spray is free to lash the naked inside of the rear quarter

Am I missing a plastic arch liner? This can't be normal..it's totally unprotected!

Going to have a scout round the scrappers, just wondering if anyone could have a quick looksee on theirs

Either way,I'll have to sort summat out!

Cheers, Dave.

Hi Dave,
My 1999 S2 Estate has liners front and rear,so I would assume that a saloon like yours should too.
Tin worm is not easy to cure unless you cut right back to solid metal and weld a new piece in.

Cheers guys :D

I thought I was going mad, as the previous owner liked everything to be analy original..maybe it's been missing for years..hence the rot!

Trip to the scrappers methinks :D
