Citroen Synergie cambelt failure
I'm officially depressed
. Coming back from a sea kayaking trip at the weekend I heard the dreaded gdunk sound and lost all power in my 1.9td Synergie. Recovery company confirmed cambelt failure. Looks like it's curtains for this much abused motor but before I arrange the funeral, is there any way to assess the exent of the damage, or any point in trying? Only 120k on the clock and the belt was changed at 82k (recommended change interval is 80k).

bad news micky
there is another posting about a TD failure on FCF at moment..
the good news is that a broken camshaft and one or more of the 3 camshaft cap half bearings may be your only damage..
A head off, rebuild and chuck back on is not a horrendous job.. if your really lucky you may just be able to pull the camshaft out, grab some caps from a wrecker (a good handful so a chance of getting a close fit), and reassemble and off you go (with a new belt, WP, tensioners etc)
was the tensioner, idler or waterpump changed at 82K?
keep us posted..
