Super Unleaded

Unread post by Quackers »

How many on here run their Activa on the Super Unleaded? I have almost always used standard 95 Octain unleaded, and for years i have always got between 320 - 350 miles from a full tank of fuel.

Since using the super , either 97 or 99 octain i am always getting just over 400 miles from a full tank, at least i have with my last 4. With yesterdays reserve light coming on when i hit 427 miles!.

Not done the maths, but i presume its worth the extra 5p or 6p a litre?

I've never noticed any difference in economy with mine, but it doesn't often get a decent run out! It's hard to get it to deviate (up or down!) from 20mpg around town.

I always used to in both the Activas and the V6 but now I rarely bother. I used to see an improvement but the cost now outweighs the benefits.

My old Silver Activa I drive with more spirit than my red one and it started off drinking it after initially putting it back on the road but over the course of about 500 miles it now flies and drinks a lot less :?

I'm sure the very early ones are better...

Just been using normal unleaded in mine, whatever the cheapest from whatever garage I pass :)

Quite interesting to read people are getting better range on different fuels, I might have to conduct some experiments myself now!

I used whatever the Total super unleaded is called in mine for a month as an experiment. Found that economy improved a little but not enough to make up the price difference. However, was surprised with the difference it made to general performance. Better pick-up, response and no pinking.

Hoping to get the Activa back on the road this month. [-o<

PS... I must have been drivng mine too slow........ I always managed more than 350 miles on a tank of 95 octane and usually managed 400. Once saw 480 on a long return motorway run....... is this a record? Was running on fumes and crossed fingers by the time I got home............

Having said that, I had over 600 miles on the trip meter of my TD when I filled it up this week!

Lost in the wilds of darkest Yorkshire a few years ago, taking my parents for a drive that seemed it would never end, I got 76 mpg average from that tankfull.
Destroyed the records unfortunately.
