New tyres

Just spent 152 on two new Michelin Energies. Should have seen the tryes taken out. Smooth as a bairns arse cheeks.

Anyway one garage mentioned Goodrite tyres? I thought these were 4x4 tyres?

Do you mean Goodride?
Budget tyres, used by a lot of Taxi firms running C5s.
Not universally liked, but I've used them for a number of years now, and find them very good value - quiet, reasonable grip, hard wearing and live up to their name, which not all tyres do on Citroens - even premium brands.

budget, the price I was quoted was similar to michelines

and this garage quoted over 80 quid for those!

got them for 58 each

Given that, and your previous experiences, I think I'll make a note to avoid garages in your area

Current retail price of Goodride H600s is £36.60 inc delivery (and they do some cheaper types too).

Recently has a set of four SAVA tyres fitted to mine, made by goodyear apparently

Seem ok, nice and quiet and grip is good.
Last june I went to Kwikfit to get the wheels balanced and was told "Nah you need four new tyres, they only have a few hundred miles left in them" I had done 14,000 on them since then and they were just coming to the wear indicators.................

the guy said when I asked for Michelins that he had them, then said I have Goodrides "they use Michelin Technology" they are around 5-8 quid cheaper. He then quoted over 80 for the Michelin Energies I got for 58 quid elsewhere.

MConochies are good priced if you have one near you.

Sure there not Goodrich which is a Michelin brand now. goodyear make quite a few tyres in turkey now. I'm using 195.65.15 firestone TZ2000 lasting well and work well.and Uniroyal XL's on back slightly stiffer sidewalls work well

Speaking of buying online....

I bought my Uniroyals from a place called Tyre Pneus Online. Can't rate them highly enough. Cheapest place I could find. Believe they are based in France - so a French Connection too!

Placed the order Friday evening of a bank holiday weekend, they said 3-5 working days. They were delivered the following Wednesday. I then took them to a local place to have them fitted.

It's the way to go....

Just got a pair of Michelin Energy Savers put on the front of the Xm on saturday. £140 for the pair - 195/65/15. Very good price i thought and so far i really like the tyres.

No point in bothering with cheap tyres in my opinion, its often a false economy.

My C5 uses 215/55 16 tyres with a speed rating of W just to make them extra expensive, the best price I could find on Michelin tyres for it was £120 a tyre.

have you checked the online ones? they offer a range of tyres from relatively unknown to the premium brands, then you choose where you have them fitted, you can even have them fitted at home for a tenner extra.

the last tyres I bought the "W" rated ones of the same brand were cheaper than the "H" rated ones

My C5 VTR uses the exact same size as yours. I got 215.55.16W Michelins for £266 the pair, so you did better than me on price!

The C5 estate we have also has the same size tyres, just got Goodyear Excellence for that at £212 the pair. They seem good but only time will tell if they will last as long as Michies.

Ive got a review of that size tyres from Autoexpress. It looked at tyre wear .. the Michelin lasted 20K miles on the front of a Skoda Octavia, the Goodyear lasted only 14K miles on the same car.

I dont always use Michelins, but i usually go for a premium branded tyre.
