2001 Saxo VTR

Unread post by seisporting »

Hey Guys

Was just offered one of these at an unrefusable price so snapped it up.
Standard car except headunit.
Seems a bit loud on the road though, anyone had any experience of soundproofing these little things?

It might just be exhaust noise (possibly baffles breaking internally in a box) which would cause a bit more noise.

Other causes (assuming its not mechanical bearing noise etc) tyre noise possibly, more likely if you have larger wheels I think.

I do not think they were soundproofed to excess anyway given their nature as a 'sport' model.

You could probably if you wanted to get some dynamat (or similar) and put it inside the doors / rear quarter panels / inside hatch-lid. Taking it further you could whip the seats out and carpet and put it under that...

It's bog standard, exhaust is brand new, new hankook tyres all round, might look into getting dynamat at weekend and refining it abit.

I dont find Saxos especially noisey, however going from a C5 almost every car seems noisey!

Dynamatting might work, its worth a try. Behind the rear side panel cards, under the seats and boot floor, front doors, those will be the easiest places to add extra sound insulation.
