Wiper blades, S2 Xantia hatch.

Unread post by Gingerposer »

Any recommendations for suppliers for wiper blades? I am needing to replace all three on my Xantia, amazing how it passed the mot given the nick of them! The rear wiper seems to be a slightly unusual fitting compared to other (lesser) cars I have owned - can an aftermarket replacement be used or does it have to be OEM?

Cheers

Just for other readers reference, the rear wipers on S1 and S2 Xantias are different. The ones in the link will fit S2. S1's have the blade running along the side of the metal bit rather than directly under it.

I have aero wiper blades on the front of Xm, similar to the ones in the above link. I like them, they work well and look better than the original metal style ones.

Bosch make the best aero wiper blades, they are pretty good for aftermarket fittings.

Rear wipers are different as Kev says, same for Xms too. Though probably more important on the Xantia with its washer pipe in the arm.

Kev, do S2 Xantias not have the wash in the arm? Maybe thats why the wipers differ?

No, they've got a little washer jet at the top of the rear windscreen/bootlid.

Cheers for the replies (and the links) - I have ordered front and rear wipers from the recommended sellers, I will report once I have received and fitted them. 8-)

My S2 has this "side fitting" type on the rear. Are you saying it's not the right one as it fits and wipes as expected and I am seeking a replacement?

I wondered, as mine has the same offset thing, however when I looked at the arm, the wiper bit doesn't fit quite right, and the arm itself has exactly the same hook as the front arms, so I guess someone has got an S1 blade and holder and made it fit.

Collected the front set from the local sorting office today ( I forgot to give the seller the mother-in-laws address to deliver to) and the rear one (which was at maw-in-laws) and just fitted them. Dead easy to fit. Now I just have to wait for rain to see how effective they are!

There is hardly any competition in France and consumers get a raw deal. As an example, I need a new driver's blade for my S2 Xantia hatch.

Cost here in 'Roady' (the motoring side of Intermarche) = €31. That's £28 or so.

After seeing that I went onto eBay UK and bought both front wipers for £7.50 including postage to me here.

I am - I made some rain with the pressure washer at work, wipers work flawlessly!
