Magnatec in XUD

Chaps,

No horror stories from using Castrol Magnatec 10W40 in 1.9 XUD I hope? Just changed the oil in my Synergie and had 4.5ltr pot lurking in the garage circa 2004 so thought I'd use it.

I used to run mine on Asda Super-Cheapo 10w40 and never had the slightest problem* so you should be OK with that stuff.

*Changed once a month!

The Asda stuff is made by Halfords, whos oils have a good reputation. They had a special offer recently, 15w-40 diesel oil for 50ppl, picked up 42L

Changed every 3,000 miles. Never used magnatec but I can't see it being a problem.

50ppl is well worth investing in. I don't go to Asda very often so missed out on that one. I haven't bought oil for ages mainly because I had a company hack with which the servicing was taken care of, however I seem to have accumulated a lot of part used 5ltr containers over the years which I need to use up ( hence the Magnatec ). Next time I will be making a start on a 20ltr container of 15W40 Valvoline.
Total cost of this minor service was £18.

Who said Citroens were expensive to run?

I used to do mine for £2.70 for the oil and £3-ish for the filter. Was a while ago now though.

I believe Halfrauds oil is made for them by Comma. No worries at all with Comma stuff.

I use it almost exclusively and thir antifreeze too.

Comma are one of the few who make 75W/80 gearbox oil suitable for BE3 and ML5 gearboxes.

I use Comma oil, under £10.00 and change it every 5,000 miles. I've never worn an engine out yet

The only problem I can see with Magnatec is the cost! Halfords seem fit to charge a small fortune for oil. 'Proper' motorfactors (or indeed supermarkets - need to check that out)

comma also supply wilkinsons their 15w40 diesel oil 5 litres £8.99 changed every 3,000 miles in our xantia diesels.
