Air Con Question

Post by pete.fair »

What a great sunny and hot day, the air con went down to only 10 degrees, is this normal or should it go lower. the outside temp was 32 on the motorway. Any help would be welcome.

That's a temp difference of 22deg - quite good performance I'd say.
How did you manage not to catch a cold sitting in such a cold car [:D]

Pete,
You sure you weren't in a butchers coldroom? From memory they should be set around 6 to 8.
The air coming off the coil should be approx. 42 degrees F to be 100% efficient which (not having my conversion calculator handy whilst showing my age) would be about in the region of around 7(?) so my guess is that it is fairly close.
If the temp was that in the car, it is extremely efficient in fact cold enough to warrant someone checking the temp control.
Outside temp will always affect the operational efficiency as the heat from inside has to be dumped outsise & the hotter it is the harder that function is to achieve.
