About this forum

Unread post by myglaren »

The Stickies approach is proving rather unwieldy so we are trying something different.

From the vast amount of information on the forums we are attempting to create a set of 'instruction manuals' by splicing together existing posts on the subjects that seem to be perennial problems experienced by the membership.

It is an ongoing thing and may well take a lot of time and in fact may never be complete.

The idea is to avoid having to repeat the same advice ad infinitum. New members will still ask the same questions as the amount of data accumulated on the forums is now vast and daunting for unfamiliar users to search. Questions have always been and will remain the standard method of eliciting information and dialogue is always welcome and encouraged - there are always new ideas coming up and fresh approaches to old problems but a core reference of information can hopefully reduce some or the more repetitive issues.

Anyone wishing to create an 'HowTo' is more than welcome but would you please

1) State your intention in this thread. Pointless having more than one on each subject.
2) Create the document offline and submit to the mods/admins for approval and possible editing prior to inclusion.

The documents are not cast in stone and we welcome any points for improvement. Please leave any alterations to the mods and admins for the moment.

For my sins, i will ,in the very near future be trying to consolidate as much information on how the A/C system operates.
Not a guide as to how the system cools the air but more of a practical when you press this button this should happen etc along with links to the bitron and specific info on the cooling fans. All info will be drawn from what is readily available on this forum and my own hands on repairs, just going to try and put it all in one thread

Admin - I posted two recent "Tech Tips" on AussieFrogs. As that is a Forum where the poster retains notional co-ownership of the content, and pictures were hosted remotely - I've no concern about the two being copied across. One is about lock buttons; people may find it very interesting/userful.
