Forget it, all of the electrical items are incompatable, they both use different electrical architecture.

There are 3 versions of the C5.
The mk1 (aprox 2001-2005) Uses bi VAN/CAN multiplexing.
The mk2 (aprox 2005-2008) Uses full CAN multiplexing.
The mk3 is the latest offering from around 2008 onwards, this also uses full CAN.
Basically put the electrical components on a VAN/CAN system & a full CAN system talk in a different langauge.

Yep they are totally different, in the way they work too.

Mk2s have a computer with menu which needs to be accessed to change even the most basic of things - this is done using the buttons on the radio. For example to turn off the air con you have to go into the computer menu and 'cut out' the air con, you just have to press the eco button on the Mk1. The trip computer is totally different too and could not be swapped to Mk1.

The Mk2 is totally different, though i would say i think i prefer the Mk1 for style and function, it looks neater and less cluttered but its also easier to use in my opinion.

When ever i need a button in the Mk2 i find ive got to hunt for it as there are so many of them.

The MK2 does look a bit more modern, but a lot of PSA cars have a very similar centre dash/button layout as the Mk2 C5. The Mk1 is unique to the C5. I do like the orange back lighting over the green of the Mk1 though.

I think the original poster wants to swap just the instruments, but I guess they are different as the LCD screen shows different information in the facelift models.
Currently driving a 2004 C5 VTR (old shape) and an Electric Kia Soul. Sorry but the electric one is my favourite!
