Xantia 2.1 TD SX 1998 MK2 suspension query

Unread post by admiral51 »

Hi All
My 2.1 TD has, ever since i got it always "sank" quite quickly and it was always on the to do list.
This weekend i had to replace the other front foglight and so put car into high whilst i removed the bumper.trouble was after about half an hour the front had "sunk" but the rear stayed on high.Cant seem to see any external leaks and the lhm level hasnt changed so im guessing its internal.I do need to do a lhm flush but both front corners pass the bounce test and i cant hear excessive ticking from the regulator. The boot test is fine so any ideas as to why the front sinks and the rear doesnt.
If left on normal setting both front and rear will sink :?

I had a Xantia VSX, 1995 M reg, WITH anti sink.. However, after engine stop, she would sink to the floor within seconds...

I changed: Brake Doser valve, regulator, Pump, Rear anti sink valve and Still the car would sink!! I never solved the problem.. Thr car would always come up, and ride well too!

Can be a leaky height corrector valve.

Actually Peter, thats interesting, I cannot remember if I changed that or not...

Have a feeling I did, as I swapped all rear parts off an Anti sinker that worked and didn't sink, but mine still did.

Hi Paul

I know that the red one has that problem, it takes ages to go up and drops very quickly, sitting underneath one day I just touched the the valve lever and it immediatly dropped with a hissing noise - I still have'nt changed it though.

Thanks for the replies gents :)

Seems like i may have to live with it for a while, not causing any major problem, just a little annoyimg. Will try and give everything a good cleanup and see if there is a small weep that is not immeadiately obvious

Hi Colin,

At least it's behaving like a proper Citroen

Yep, it'll be a tiny leak somewhere. It only needs a teeny-weeny one.
