My 205 GTi 1.6

Post by shaun_205gti »

Here is my new car its a 1.6 Gti in graphite grey. 110,000 miles with stacks of history last owner had it 15 years and kept it garaged. Gave it a good polish and fitted some new numberplates today and took some pics.

Bought some 1.9 wheels the weekend which im getting refurbed then im getting it lowered 30mm. Hopefully getting a stainless steel 3" system the weekend then thats it as love the 205 standard.

I've always like the looks of the 205 GTi. Have looked at them on several occasions but have never actually got round to buying one.

I wouldn't lower it or put a big exhaust on it to be honest. It's a really tidy one that should be kept in factory condition.

Wheels go on and off in minutes, lowering and exhaust might just ruin the car really. Wheels would still be OEM ...

1.9 wheels do look quite good.

My goodness, that's a peachy 205 Shaun :D

Not many left like that now. Original and unmolested ones are very special now so don't, whatever you do, go modifying it!!!

As Chris says, no harm in putting 1.9GTi Speedlines on it though. They do look good.

I'm so deligthed to see such a lovely 1.6 GTi. As said, I had a red one for a long time and those pictures brought back some happy memories along with the inevitable "Why did I ever sell it?"

I worked hard on mine (also a 1.6) to restorte it back to absolute original, even down to the airbox.

Sold it I did though and sice then I've had Activas.

Truth be told though I'm now too old and past it for a 205 GTi...

Keep the standard wheels as they're actually rarer as normally
the first thing everyone does is bin them and fit 1.9's... ;)

these look really good condition and don't have the bad oxidation
on the front centre machined face. The 1.6 rims are now getting
rare in good condition and desirable especially for guys who want
the full timewarp look and originality.

I certainly wouldn't lower it either. Firm enough ride to start with!!
Personally I think it looks sad and silly too...

For a car that can change height at the flick of a lever how
about a Xantia!?
:D

Looks sweet mate, the 1.9 alloys will look far better.

Id lower it a bit myself on some decent suspension i.e bilstein, fit a decent exhaust aswell to release a few more ponies.

Just keep the o.e parts, easy enough to fit the standard bits back on if needs be.

Keep those pepperpots safe just in case you ever want it to be totally original one day!
