A little fun on the way to Newton Aycliffe!

Hi All,

Had a problem on my drive to pick up daughter and car broke down.

The car was running fine ubtil just south of Otterburn when engine management light came on :? and engine died :!:

It failed to start again.

On looking in the engine area my wire to the stop solenoid had broken off. I checked the connection and Icould hear the preheating relay clicking on/off so it would appear that's gone.

Much fun had when i moved the car back to Jedburgh with the assistance of the brother-in-law

I have spares for both stop solenoid and preheater unit so will attempt a repair on Monday.

Hi all,

I've got her back safe and sound.

Here's what I found replaced the connector with a spare I had. Changed the preheating relay unit with a spare  and it wouldn't start. I forgot to check the F7 fuse in engine bay. Changed that and she fired first time.

I think what happened initially was the solder on the connector gave way and shorted out blowing fuse hence no starter.

Would this explain the funny voltage readings and the relay in the pre heating unit click on and off.
