Cabin temp sensor (Xantia)

Unread post by mark21td »

Does anyone have a cabin temp sensor (the one with the little fan inside) going spear ?
It's for my Xantia 1.9td VSX 1997.

Hi Mark

Sorry to report that having emptied both stores departments i only have the grille for the sensor fan and not the actual fan itself

If memory serves me right i think i may have let it go to another forum member a couple of years ago, help me out here Mike T please :?

If it was when you gave/sold me a bunch of parts - parcel shelf, radio, etc - then yes I was in need once and could have been the benefactor but I can't recall it specifically.

As for the OP's request - Mark, what's wrong with the original unit as it might be a simple fix?

It's been diegnosed as faulty by DickyG's Lexia, it's the temp sensor part I think, but the fan doesn't always work (until I give the dash a whak) so I'm looking for a compleat unit.

They have a bit of a limited life, and any second hand ones are likely to be in a similar state to the one you've got.... if the car's a keeper I'd be tempted to buy a new one - but they are the thick end of a ton....

It's just a small fan that draws the cabin air over a simple thermistor. I imagine it'd be relatively simple to replace both from off-the-shelf parts if only we knew what the thermistor value is (or are they universal?). As RichardW advises, when I looked a few years ago, a new one was over £80!
