Firstly, just want to say what a terrific forum and a superb resource for xantia owners. As a new mwmber spent most of last night reading through the posts and learned more than from Haynes, official manual or so-called main dealer techies put together.
Anyway just want to post a solution I discovered with the plip. (1995 1800 Xantia)
Similar problem to loads of posts, i.e intermittent action. Tried new batteries, connections, cleaning lens etc. all with mixed success. Then found that by putting a small amount of packing(cotton wool or lump of tissue) in the base of the removable cap (just enough to put a bit of pressure on the pcb)it stopped any mobility in the pcb and buttons and batteries. Has worked perfectly ever since.
