Don't know if that's what you call it but I am sure you will know what I mean, anyway mine was acting up so I replaced the battery, by the way contrary to what it says in the Haynes Manual there is only one battery, I then turned on the ignition and and pressed the lock button to program it the problem is that sometimes it locks the car and and sometimes it doesn't can you help.
Thanks allanmc

Hi

What car is it on?? Theres a chance one of the IC Chips on the cuircuit board could have a break in the soldered legs, this is becoming a common problem, or the IR LED has a broken leg...

These both quite fixable if you are very handy with a soldering iorn, as the Chips are Surface mount.. The IR LED is not though...

Hi..

No problem.. after a battery change, sometimes you need to do a Re-sync.. being a year 2000 car, it uses Radio frequency instead of Infra Red..

The other problem you might have is the switch comming away from the circuit board!

The first problem you can try.. Put the key in the ignition, then with all the instrument lights on press the LOCK button, which is the forward section of the rubber..

This should re sync the key to the car.. however, if the button if faulty, which sounds like it could be, then the switch may benefit from a re solder.. you need to be Extreamilly handy with a sharped pointed soldering Iorn, if so, re soldering the switch, which is surface mounted, is possible.. Ive done a few now..

Regards

Yes it will, the cuircuit sits on a small spigot that holds it in place.. so have have to VERY carefully twist or lift the board ..

You'll need an iorn with a very fine tip, the soldering really is small...

Paul, its me again I took the circuit board out of the housing but couldn't see any bad solder joints I also have a second key which I checked as you suggested but still the same, sometime it works and sometime it doesn't and that's right next to the car it used to work from about 10 or 20 feet away and that's after initialing as the hand book says, can you suggest anything else. Thanks
