Corrosion guarantee

Unread post by rmunns »

I see in the service handbook for my Xantia that

"the corrosion guarantee includes the free repair and/or replacement of corroded body parts (perforation of the bodywork and underbody caused by corrosion which starts on the inner surfaces).

This guarantee is for 6 years for commercial vehicles and 12 years for other vehicles, with no mileage limit".

Anyone taken advantage of this with a car approaching 12 years old?

isnt there a clause saying that you have to have the body inspected on a yearly basis by the dealer or the warranty is void?

I believe there is yes, which is rather rubbish and not what some other manufacturers state.

ALso if there is any sign of a previous repair it wont be covered, though that does make sense.

It also says that chargeable work may need doing to uphold the warranty.

I looked at this last week, since our 7 year old Picasso has rotted a sill out - clearly from the inside out. The Xantia handbook states inspection required at 4, 6, 8(? maybe not sure) and 10 years required. Charge time is 0.6 hrs - plus any remedial work identified  I'm sure our Picasso didn't go in for its 6 year inspection, so I'm sure Citroen would give the good old Agincourt signal if I asked for them to fix it :o
