Help - lost water cap

Post by Picasso03 »

Hi

I have a 2003 Citroen Xsara Picasso, somehow, I have lost the cap that goes on the water tank (not the washer).

I have Googled it, but don't seem to be able to find anywhere I can get a replacement from.

It currently has a childs hair band and a doggy poop bag on it to keep the water in and other stuff out, which is working for now, but I'm guessing will not get through the MOT!!

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can get one, we don't have a Citroen garage locally.

Any scrap yards near you?
I don't know but GSF might stock them, and they deliver.
Someone could buy one and mail it to you - I've got a Citroen dealer nearby.

You really need the coolant cap on as it's other function is to keep the pressure higher than atmospheric to raises it's boiling point. The cooling fans are programmed to come on high speed too late for non-pressurised coolant.

Search under expansion tank cap. They will no doubt be the same across many of the Citroens / Peugeots with the same engine.

Make sure the bar rating is the same though...

GSF, if they do them, do free next day mail order (unless theyve changed it) the phone number is on their website.

The expansion chamber cap you require should be part number 1306J5 (1.4 bar) and should cross refer to the same citroen and peugeot part number.. the citroen price for the item is £3.38 Inc vat
