Cambelt change on a Citroen Xsara Picasso 2.0 HDI

Unread post by mytlemeboy »

Can anyone tell me whether its a straightforward job to change the cambelt on a 2.0 xsara picasso hdi? ... just bought one and at 130k, i guess it needs changing. Don't really want to cough up £200+ for a mechanic . . .

If it's done 130k I would say it's false economy not to also swap the tensioner and idler pulley. Also the water pump. If you don't, one or the other is likely to give trouble shortly after changing just the belt. And I doubt that you would get all that done for 200. Parts alone would be 100+

As to whether you can DIY - you need quite a bit of mechanical skill and also a reasonable toolkit.............. and maybe a Haynes!! But there's always got to be a first time. I've recently done for the first time our Saxo and Pug 306 and before long, I'll need to do the C5.
