Good news or bad news?

Unread post by Stempy »

Well the good news is I found the latest leak, bad news is it's from the doseur valve. Good news is it looks like just a split hose on the top, it's just a short length that fits in turn to a thinner pipe which I assume is a return. Bad news is it looks like intake manifold off to get anywhere near it. Good news is it needs new plugs anyway and I have a gasket in stock. Bad news is I now have a green oily driveway AGAIN! Good news is I have a brand new doseur valve which I could fit while I'm doing the job. Bad news is it looks like a real pig of a job.

As an aside, since fitting the replacement rear electro valve, the rear end seems to sink much quicker and further than it used to, any ideas?

Seems like the good and bad balance out there Stempy

There are two leakage returns on the dosuer. Hopefully that will be all it is, fingers crossed. Just a split rubber.

If it's any consolation at all, the dosuer is a heck of a lot more accessible in a V6 than it is in a lot of Xantias.. Honestly, with the manifold out of the way you could hold a party in the back of the engine bay and the dosuer will swing out on the pipes for better access. The two 11mm securing nuts each side of the brake pedal are the biggest challenge...

LHM soon fades from drives, depending on what they're made of. My concrete drive has had more LHM spilled on it than you'd believe but after a few weeks it's all faded away...

Anyway, if you wait long enough it might be fashionable to have a green drive..

Sinking. Pass. I'll have a think...

IIRC didn't the rear of BX's sink when there was a leak from the dosuer valve?

that was when they had an internal leak, and the rear suspension presure would leak back to the tank passed the seals,

Or in my case leak back to various parts of Normandy, a ferry and my drive.

Back to the bad news, the offending piece of hose isn't even available in France and will be special order to arrive mid May if I'm lucky.

Well at least you are getting your parts problem sorted before the summer holiday shutdown, I had a need for a particular item, which was special order only, but as the factory had shut down, there was no chance of getting it until they returned from vacation.

Thanks Malcolm, when I get it to bits I'll see if there's enough left over, but from what I can see at the moment it looks pretty tight, which may be why it split. It might be a few days before I get it apart though, especially if it rains at the weekend.
