Indicator problem

Post by Martin Beevers »

Hi all,
I have searched this fault and found topics, but not managed to find a cause or remedy.

My O/S indicators stay on occasionally, not flashing just on constantly. I have read that it maybe the alarm ECU or the hazard switch that might be the culprit.

I take the bulbs out so as not to drain the battery (apart from the dash bulb. LOL.) and the fault corrects itself when I next look. There doesn't seem to be a trigger, it sometimes happens when I'm driving, when I unlock the car with remote or when it's parked.
It doesn't set off the alarm.

Has anyone had this fault? If so, did you find the cause?

I can tell you 306's used to do this, (typically the offside indicators use to just stay on not flashing just 'on')

The cause was 99% of the time the alarm ECU which on a 306 fitted under the drivers seat (seat out / lift carpet for access)

Although where it would be on your Xantia I am not sure.

Hope that's a little bit of help if nothing else anyway. :)
Andy.

Yup It IS the Alarm ECU in Xantias aswell...

The unit - its located under the PASSENGER seat, under the carpet!!

So seat out, edge of carpet up...

What a pain in the a*#e...

This alarm ECU has been on a couple of months, if that. My original 1 was destroyed by the water issues I've had with this car...

What years are compatible with my 95?

Hi Paul,
No mate, it was the central locking ECU, which is working fine. :D

If you have 1 spare I would happily relieve you of it.

You have PM.
