Hi, newbie here, problem with Father-in-laws car, trying to recode his radio but the only thing in the display is the word CODE, every time we press the set button we hear a beep and nothing else happens, we have left the radio on for hours on end waiting for the zero's to show with no luck.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

It is possible, although you usually get at least three sometimes ten attempts before it permanently locks. I had a Vauxhall unit (an old late 80's one) permanently lock out after 10 goes a long time ago.
If you can whip the radio out, it may be quicker and easier to just take it to a audio specialist (or take the car, probably better as there's no doubt about ownership if you take the car)
Some of the ones I used to see would say CODE until you held a button down for a second or two then they would go to the - - - - lines waiting for the code.
Audio specialist will be cheaper than a dealer for the code (and probably quicker as they will be able to tell if there's a problem or not with the unit as that's their 'area' so to speak)

Have tried holding numerous buttons down for over a minute at a time, the only thing we can think of is a Renault dealer local to us tried to input the code using the numbers on the facia instead of using the satellite as instructed by the book.
I have taken the unit out for now and will take down to our local Audio specialists for a quick look see.
Thank you very much for taking the time to help, it is very much appreciated
